This antique 1920s piano shawl was made from a rich, deep ash blue silk material beautifully adorned with a floral motif in shades of bold coral, emerald green, and gold. A perfect square, framed in decoratively woven twisted silk rope with the edges left in fringe. A remarkable relic from the era in a rare range of colors. Perfect for wearing or as used for interior decor. This shawl is quite heavy due to the bountiful fringe border.
Quick Notes:
Era: 1920's or earlier
Brand: unbranded
Material: Silk
Size: 62 x 62 inches (including fringe)
Condition: Unwashed in fear of causing damage to the fringe, but does not retain an offensive odor. Some minor foxing from age that hides very well in the deep colors and busy pattern. Fringe is very slightly frayed at the very tips and there is one spot where some loops have detached from each other at the seam connection. Shawl is very sturdy without holes or tears.
This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:
• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina
These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.
Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
